Warhammer 40k Dice Roller

Roll a whole attack in one press: hit rolls, wound rolls from Strength against Toughness, saving throws with AP and invulnerable saves, then the damage. Or roll a big handful of d6 and count the results you need.

Set the attack and press Roll attack.

How to roll an attack

  1. Enter the number of Attacks and what the attacker Hits on (their BS or WS).
  2. Enter Strength and the target's Toughness; the roller works out the wound roll.
  3. Enter the weapon's AP as a number (2 for AP -2), its Damage, and the target's Save and any Invulnerable save.
  4. Add re-rolls if a rule gives them, then press Roll attack. Every die is shown, passes highlighted.

The wound roll

Compare the attack's Strength with the target's Toughness:

Strength vs ToughnessWounds on
Strength is at least double the Toughness2+
Strength is greater3+
Strength equals Toughness4+
Strength is lower5+
Strength is half the Toughness or less6+

An unmodified 1 always fails a hit or wound roll, and an unmodified 6 always succeeds. Saving throws subtract the AP from the save (a 3+ save against AP -2 needs a 5+); an invulnerable save ignores AP, and the roller uses whichever is better.

Bulk dice

Need plain dice? Use Roll many d6: roll up to 200 dice and count how many show your target or more. Each result from 1 to 6 is counted too.

Questions

How do I enter AP?

As a positive number: type 1 for AP -1, 2 for AP -2 and so on. The roller adds it to the save roll needed.

Does it handle invulnerable saves?

Yes. Pick the invulnerable save and the roller uses it whenever it is better than the armour save after AP.

Can I re-roll hits or wounds?

Yes. Choose Re-roll 1s or Re-roll all failed for hits and for wounds.

Does it include special rules like Lethal Hits?

Not yet. It rolls the core sequence; apply unit and weapon abilities yourself, or use the bulk roller for custom checks.
