Tips for each kind of topic
- Speech topics are informative: research the facts, then explain them in three main points.
- Debate topics are written as questions with two sides. Draw one, then flip a coin to decide who argues for and who argues against.
- Writing prompts are story starters. Set a timer for 10 minutes and write without stopping.
- Impromptu speech topics are for practice speaking without notes: give yourself 30 seconds to think and 1 to 2 minutes to talk.
- Topics for kids work for show and tell, short talks and class journals.
