How to build a character
- Spin Personality for their main trait.
- Spin Job for a modern story, or Fantasy class and Species for a fantasy one.
- Spin Goal for what they want, and Flaw for what gets in their way.
Every spin is saved in the results list, so you can read your full character there. Example: Grumpy, Baker, wants to Solve a mystery, but is Afraid of the dark.
Who it is for
- Writers: a quick start for short stories, a writing challenge or a writing class.
- Artists: character design and drawing practice. Add a random hair color.
- Tabletop and video games: a new NPC or a player character in seconds.
- Teachers: creative writing prompts for the whole class.
Why a goal and a flaw matter
A character becomes interesting when they want something and something inside them makes it hard to get. A brave knight who holds grudges, or a shy inventor who wants to become famous, already has a story. That is why the wheel spins a goal and a flaw, not just a name and a job.

Questions
Are these characters from books or films?
No. The wheel mixes simple traits, jobs, goals and flaws, so every character you make is your own.
Can I add my own traits?
Yes. Type into the options box, one per line, or paste a list.
Is every option equally likely?
Yes, within each wheel. The Personality wheel has 30 traits on equal slices, so each trait has a 1 in 30 chance, and the other wheels work the same way. Your browser's cryptographic random number generator picks every stop.
